A Brief History
While officially becoming a brand in 2025, Cabin Life Coffee, a proud brand of Midwest Roasters, LLC , has it's roots dated back to 1987, the humble beginnings of our companies origins. Follow through our timeline and learn a little bit more about our brand and where we come from.
1987
Although Cabin Life Coffee was established in 2025, our history begins in 1987, when Backroads Coffee & Tea, a retail coffee & tea shop, opened in downtown Hayward, Wisconsin.
1997
After 10 years of leading a nationally distributed, specialty coffee roasting company, Teresa Peters, and her husband Rod Peters, became the new owners of Backroads Coffee & Tea.
2002
Due to the exponential growth of both the wholesale and retail businesses, under their leadership, a new 1200 sq ft roasting facility was built, located 17 miles East of Hayward, Wisconsin.
2013
With a mission to grow the wholesale roasting business, and attract new markets, the roasting business was re-established as Midwest Roasters, LLC and 2500 sq ft was added to the facility.
2025
With a goal to simplify, be adventurous, and create a brand that best represents the lifestyle from which we come from, Cabin Life Coffee, The Unofficial Coffee of the Northwoods, was born.
